Shopping and Splurging

Hey Garish Gal’s! It’s Allie!

With National Margarita Day last week and National Tortilla Day this Wednesday, I thought it would be nothing less than appropriate to celebrate the day in between: Taco Tuesday!!!!

That’s right: Tacos! Who doesn’t love tacos!?! I know what all of you are probably thinking,…”This is a fashion blog; Why are we talking about food?” or “Quit, you’re making me hungry!”but the truth is, every girl has those splurge days when all they want to do is snack on some of their favorite foods! I figured that I mine as well share what some of the Garish Gal girls love to eat the most, and the top two items on the list: Tacos and Donuts!  (not together, of course… also, donut blog to potentially come in the future)

Tacos and clothes are somewhat alike if you think about it in a really weird way. Some outfits are similar to another, yet none are the same. Tacos bring many flavors to the table, as do each item of clothing we put on. Some are colorful, bold, tasteful, spicy, or bland. Garish Gal isn’t about the “bland tacos”, Garish means to be lurid, so just like clothes, tacos should also be original, unique, and stand out. Which is why posted below are some of Garish Gal’s newest arrivals that will satisfy your hunger in the fashion world, along with three amazingly unique but easy taco recipes to match your spicy outfits.

5 Things To Do For Galentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day approaches, I am accepting the fact that I am single yet once again. The only valentines I need are some cute clothes, fun friends, and credit cards to go buy more cute clothes with my fun friends. As every girls number one motto should be, I live by the words “Clothes Over Bros”, which is why I’ve made a list of the top 5 things you should do with your girlfriends this weekend while rocking some amazing Garish Gal looks. Its better than cliche roses, its “Gal”entine’s Day!!!!

1.) Galentine’s Weekend

Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, take a weekend getaway with your girls to escape from all of our hectic lives!! Ideas can range anywhere from a fun weekend in a big city, going skiing (I would break myself), or gambling your fortunes away at a casino! Anything to take a break from reality and enjoy yourself with friends.

2.) No Date, No Problem

If you can’t afford to skip out on a whole weekend in reality (bummer), make a date night with your girlfriends. Throw on a stunning dress like one of the ones below, go out with your girls, and make the guys out and about, wish they were on a date with you;)

3.) “Build-A…Cuddle Buddy?”

Yes, I know it sounds crazy, but I am SO OBSESSED with Build-A-Bear!!! Some of the best advice heard all the time is “Never Grow Up” so, why not take a fun day with a BFF or two and build your very own valentine!! Laughs with your girls, and a buddy to cuddle up with when the night ends!

4.) “Boxed Wine and The Bachelor”

Not everyone wants to go out on Valentine’s Day, so invite the gals over, go buy a box of wine, and fall in love with this years Indiana Bachelor: Ben Higgins!!! Love Him, who else do you want to dream over on valentines day with some wine!!

5.) “Celebrate with the #1 Girl in your life: Yourself!!”

Though you now have some ideas on how to celebrate Galentine’s Day, a nice bubble bath can be just as satisfying as all of the above options! Do whatever brings YOU happiness, because the day is meant for love…So Love Yourself<3

And to all the other girls who do have dates with their significant others, kill the night in a Garish Gal look or anything that makes you feel like you are Beyoncè!!! Garish Gal Black Dress YA!

Happy Galentine’s Day and Happy Shopping!

much love, Allie<3

MAJOR GARISH GAL NEWS!

trailer sketch 1 Trailer sketch 2

Hey All!

I wanted to FINALLY share with you some MAJORLY EXCITING NEWS about Garish Gal!

A week ago Monday, I officially purchased a cargo trailer in order to make Garish Gal a mobile Fashion boutique.

AKA GARISH GAL IS GOING TO BE A FASHION TRUCK!

I am insanely excited about this expansion and am going to share this adventure with you all every step of the way.

Although, I had always intended for Garish Gal to be an online only boutique. I found that my clients wanted the personal interaction that you receive with a boutique. I also missed interacting with people and helping them find the perfect outfits.

I had a decision to make: Brick and Mortar store or something else.

My good friend called me one day with the idea of creating a mobile fashion boutique and I instantly loved it.

I had found the something else I was looking for!

I liked the idea of not being confined to one specific space, but rather meeting people where they are.

After doing a lot of research, I decided I wanted to use a cargo trailer instead of an actual truck.

I found the perfect trailer and ordered it about a week ago!

Hopefully, I will have it up and going by the middle to end of October!

I am teaming up with my grandpa to create the perfect mobile boutique that fits the needs of my customers and stays true to the Garish Gal brand.

On October 1st, I will also be launching a new website for Garish Gal that will be cleaner and easier to use.

It will feature a place where you can book the boutique and you will also be able to use the calendar feature to check out where the boutique will be (different events, farmers markets, first Friday events, etc).

I will keep the blog updated as I progress on the boutique!

Stay tuned 🙂

Spring Trend Report 2015

If you are like me, you are SO over cold winter weather and dreaming of warm sweetness. Around this time I am always looking to update my wardrobe with fresh spring pieces and check out which new spring trends work for me.

This spring (and what feels like almost every spring) Midi Skirts, Florals, and pastels are going to be dominating the trend market.

Midi Skirts are great for the spring because they easily transition from work to weekend. You can dress them up with heels or go for the more casual look with sandals or flats. Two of my favorite styles of midi skirts are the gathered pleat and knife pleated bodies. The gathered pleat is great because it is fit around the waist and flares out, creating a great fit for any shape. I also really like the knife pleat because of the pretty and delicate look it creates, adding subtle volume. I also really love the way it sways; it makes me feel like a princess!florals for blog post

Florals for spring- groundbreaking, I know! I am not usually the floral kind of girl, but I really love a floral with a black background. I tend to gravitate to blacks and whites, so a floral with a black ground really meshes with my style. It also allows the floral print to pop more! A black ground also makes it easy to transition from spring to summer and even into fall, making the piece very transitional! pastels for blog post

Pastels are a trend that we have started to see not only in the spring, but also slipping into the fall trends (as it was pretty huge last fall). For the spring, finding the right balance of pastels is imperative to look on trend and not like an Easter egg. I really like light pinks, corals, and light blues. I tend to stay away from the pale yellows, again to not look like an Easter egg. Pastels can make you look and feel very fresh and springy (pun intended).Screen Shot 2015-02-09 at 6.36.25 PM

Gingham prints are also another really fun and easy trend we are going to see for spring. This print is often thought of as picnic like and hard to wear. However, with super cute silhouettes like these, it makes the trend easy and updated. It is a great way to look flirty and fashion forward!

All of the pieces in the picture collage are available at Shopgarishgal.com !!

Garish Gals-

Please welcome our guest Blogger Jennifer Dale.

Jennifer is a long time friend of mine and is featured as a model on the website!

She is going to enlighten us on how shopping at Garish Gal has made great style easy and affordable for her!

Hi, my name is Jennifer and I would definitely say I’m a garish gal. My personality is very loud and spontaneous, but I am not very girly. Growing up with three older brothers, I have always been kind of a tomboy. I was never really into fashion, but as a new college graduate it has become more important to me.

I would describe my style as plain Jane, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like to dress up every now and again! The Garish Gal blog is a constant reference for me. When I am not sure how to wear something or what I should wear, I know I can always find inspiration on the Garish Gal Blog. Garish gal has plenty of clothing items to fit every personality type, even mine.

This blue long sleeve top is a perfect casual piece to go with my favorite kind of bottoms: jeans. The crochet-like open shoulder adds a sexy touch without being too revealing. This shirt could be worn on so many occasions in every season of the year.

This romper is one of the most comfortable clothing items I’ve ever worn. It could be very casual alone, or you can dress it up with a jacket or fun jewelry. I love that I can wear this piece in the winter and transition it into the summer.

IMG_4837   IMG_4825

This teal skirt is my absolute favorite. It’s bright color shows my bold personality and can draw attention from across the room. The love the way it accentuates my waist, and the pleats add a fun touch to the material.

Needless to say, Garish Gal makes finding and wearing great fashion easy. Even for people that aren’t totally into fashion, there is always something I can find that I love!

Don’t forget that for every $150 you spend, $25 goes towards funding education to projects all over the world.

Check out all of these pieces at Shopgarishgal.com

Use promo code NewYearNewYou25 for 25% off your entire order now through January 12th, 2015.

There’s nothing more I love to do than make my Christmas List!

I don’t care how old I am, I will always have a blast making my List & checking it twice (three times, four!)!!

Here at Garish Gal, we have compiled a list of 8 Holiday Essentials that you NEED on your own list!

1. Lady in Red– This pleated red dress is the perfect mix of sexy and sweet. The fit and flare body creates a great shape flattering dress that works for each unique body type. I love throwing on a fur vest, blazer, or fur jacket on with this piece. Adding fur is a great way to elevate the piece for a holiday or work party.

2. Fuzzy Sweater– AMAZINGLY comfortable, soft, and warm! This sweater is a great wardrobe staple for the winter weather. Having that great go to sweater makes this piece not only a great gift for you, but also a great gift for friends and family too! Trust me they will love you for gifting them this sweater!

3. Jumpsuit– I love jumpsuits, but I am very picky about how they fit! However, this particular jumpsuit fits amazing. The adjustable straps allow you to control the length of the jumpsuit. The pants fit as a straight leg that hit right at the ankle. The mesh back creates a sexy feel, but still covers up a strapless bra!

4. Metallic Top– This holiday season metallic is everywhere!! However, if you aren’t sure about this trend, investing in a crop like the above for a great price is a great way. I love pairing this top with the Rise & Shine Midi Skirt. This would also look amazing with a solid black pencil skirt (like here).

5. Midi Skirts– These midi skirts are to die for! I love how simple they are to wear. You can even transition these into your spring wardrobe. You can throw on a sweater with these midis and wear them to work with a blouse. Another great way to wear midi skirts is to combine them with crop tops! I love how the midi’s are styled on Shop Garish Gal as classy crop tops. There are many ways to do crop tops, but by playing them up with the right skirt, it makes all the difference.

6. Grey Denim– I have never tried Sanctuary denim before, but I can now say I am a total believer. These are super comfortable and allow for stretch. They fit very true to size! The zippers add an element of edge to the look. I love that the grey is a winter mix between your summer white jeans and regular jeans- making the grey a great transitional piece.

7. The Perfect Legging– I am always looking for non sheer leggings that are thick enough to keep me warm during the cold Midwest winters. Sanctuary has done an incredible job of fixing that dilemma! I’ve actually bought a pair of these for myself. They are great for tucking into boots or for wearing with slip on sneakers! These leggings make a perfect gift!

8. Statement Tops– Statement tops are an easy way to create an outfit for work or play. They can dress up a great pair of denim for a day at work or throw over a pair of leggings, knee high boots, and a blazer for a fun night out look. The sequin one is a great color way to pair back to most any bottoms. I love the back detailing on the rose top, but you also should check out this amazing mixed media tweed top.

9. Garish Gal Gift Certificates– If you are still struggling to find that perfect present for that special someone, a Garish Gal gift card is always a great fix! Quick, easy, no hassle! Show your Garish Gal just how much you love her!

Whether you’ve been naughty or nice, spoil yourself and others with gifts from our Holiday List!

**Remember to shop Black Friday thru Cyber Monday at Shopgarishgal.com to receive 30% off of your ENTIRE PURCHASE + Free shipping on gifts over $50!

More importantly, in this time of giving, remember that Garish Gal ALWAYS gives $25 of your $150 purchase to education funding projects around the world. In case you forgot, this retail quarter our donations will be going to Project117 which educates the left behind in Haiti!

Happy Holidays Garish Gals!
